Five Men's Soccer Lions tapped for All-SSC
team
Other honorees included junior goalkeeper Travis Haight (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and sophomore Blake Wright (Conway, Ark.) being tabbed as second-team selections for the second consecutive season, with sophomore transfer Evan Keeling (Neosho, Mo.) also earning second-team honors. Senior J.P. West (Broken Arrow, Okla.) was an honorable mention pick for the second straight year. Stoessel started all 17 matches he played in and scored two goals, with one assist. One of Stoessel's two goals was the game-winner in a 1-0 overtime victory at Eastern New Mexico on Sept. 23. Keeling scored a team-high five goals, with one assist on the season. Keeling also led the Lions with three game-winning tallies in his first season with the program after transferring from Missouri State (formerly known as Southwest Missouri State). Haight played every minute in the net this season for the Lions, while recording SSC highs in saves (140) and saves per game (7.37). Haight ranks fourth nationally in saves per game. He is the MSSU single-season record holder for saves (160, 2004) and minutes (1,756:57, 2004). Wright received the starting assignment in all 19 matches for the Lions and was an integral part of a Southern defensive unit that posted four shutouts on the season, including shutout victories over No. 18-ranked Rockhurst (1-0, Sept. 3) and a 3-0 win over then-SSC leading West Texas A&M on Oct. 23. West started all 19 matches in his final season with the Lions and registered a team-leading 39 shot attempts. West scored three goals and dished out one assist, including the eventual game-winning score in the upset win over West Texas A&M. The Lions, under third-year head coach Kiley Cirrilo, more than doubled their win total from 2004 and finished with an overall record of 5-14, with a 3-11 SSC mark.
