Men's Soccer Lions lose 1-0 overtime match at St. Edward's (Texas)


The Missouri Southern Lions suffered a 1-0 loss, overtime loss to the St. Edward's Hilltoppers Friday afternoon (Oct. 28) in Austin, Texas. 

The game's only goal was scored by Jeff Herlan off a Hilario Herrera assist 7:39 into the first overtime period to give the Hilltoppers the victory. 

Senior J.P. West (Broken Arrow, Okla.) led the Lions with three shots, but Southern could muster only four shots-on-goal, compared to nine for St. Edward's.  Overall, the Hilltoppers (6-11-1, 5-7-0 SSC) out-shot the Lions 19-11.

Junior goalkeeper Travis Haight (Sioux Falls, S.D.), fresh off his SSC Defensive Player of the Week honor, turned in another solid performance by recording eight saves for the Lions (5-12-0, 3-9-0 SSC), giving him an SSC-high 123 for the season.  Chris Sanders recorded four saves for the Hilltoppers.
