Men's Soccer Lions fall to Midwestern State (Texas), 2-0

The Missouri Southern Lions dropped a 2-0 match to the Midwestern State Indians Sunday afternoon (Oct. 30) in Wichita Falls, Texas.

The Lions (5-13-0, 3-10-0 SSC) fell behind in the 24 minute of play when Reni Fulkerson scored a goal off a rebound from a corner kick to give the Indians a 1-0 lead.

The Indians (11-3-2, 9-1-2 SSC) scored again at the 44:36 mark when Kyle Kmiec scored off assists from Mark McGlinchey and Steven Fryer to take a two goal lead into the half.

The Lions held the Indians to just the two scores largely due to a strong effort from junior goalkeeper Travis Haight (Sioux Falls, S.D.).  Haight, the reigning SSC Defensive Player of the Week, made 11 saves against a staggering 27 MSU shot attempts.

The Lions were out-shot by the Indians 27-7 for the match and 13-4 on goal.

The Lions will wrap up the 2005 season by traveling to Tahlequah, Okla. to face the Northeastern State Redmen Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m.
