FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Aug. 25, 2006 Lions fall to CBU
in 2006 opener
The Missouri Southern Lions opened its 2006 campaign by falling 5-0 to
the Christian Brothers (Tenn.) Buccaneers Friday night in action at the
Missouri Southern Invitational. The match was stopped in the 74th minute
due to lightning in the area.
The Buccaneers did a great job of spreading the wealth, as their goals
were scored by five different players.
CBU attacked early and often and put the Lions in an early 2-0 hole as
Rasaq Kuteyi and Matt Werakso each scored goals in the first 12 minutes
of the contest.
Ryan Peel added a goal for CBU in the 34th minute to give the Buccaneers
a 3-0 halftime advantage.
CBU added two more goals in the second half just over two minutes apart
to cruise to the season-opening victory.
Junior Neil Stoessel led the Lions with two shots, one on goal, but CBU
out-shot Southern 15-6 for the match.
The Lions will get back at it Sunday afternoon by hosting St. Mary's
(Texas) at 3 p.m.
