Avila, 1-0 The Eagles, an NAIA school located in Kansas City, Mo., improved to 1-3, while the Lions dropped to 0-4-1 on the season. The Lions lost despite controlling most of the match. Southern out-shot Avila 11-1 in the first half and 16-5 overall. Southern also held a 6-2 advantage in shots-on-goal. Senior goalkeeper Travis Haight (Sioux Falls, S.D.) made one save for Southern, while Avila goalie Max Hasselquist recorded six stops for the Eagles. Sophomore Austin Whiles led the Lions with four shots, while Dushan Gorechan (Wichita, Kan.), Lucas Merino (Neosho, Mo.) and Alain Njoume (Yaounde, Litoral, Cameroon) had three shots apiece for Southern. The Lions will
resume play in the Southwest Soccer Conference by playing at West Texas
