Lions fall at West Texas A&M

Canyon, TX --
The West Texas A&M Buffs scored two goals just six minutes apart in the first half and hung
on to defeat Missouri Southern 2-0 in a Southwest Soccer Conference matchup Friday afternoon (Sept. 15) in
Canyon, Texas.

Reme Gomez and Lance Parks provided the scoring for the Buffs in the first half.  Gomez scored the first goal
off an assist from Jaime Gonzales barely ten minutes into the match, which was followed by a Parks tally just
over six minutes later to give the Buffs a two-goal advantage.

Senior goalkeeper Travis Haight (Sioux Falls, S.D.) kept the Lions (0-5-1, 0-2 SSC) in the match by recording
13 saves against 25 shot-attempts.

Southern could muster only four shots, all on goal, while the Buffs (3-1-1) recorded 25 shots and 15 on-goal.

The Lions will continue SSC action by playing at Eastern New Mexico Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. Central time and 1 p.m.
Mountain time. Last season, the Lions and ENMU split a pair of matches, with each squad winning 1-0 on the road.
