FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Lions have two-match winning streak snapped at NSU, 4-1 Tahlequah, Okla.. -- Chris Nettles scored two goals and Clark Bradford added three assists as the Northeastern State (Okla.) Redmen defeated Missouri Southern 4-1 and snap the Lions two-match winning streak in a Southwest Soccer Conference matchup Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 3) in Tahlequah, Okla. With NSU already up 1-0, Nettles scored the first of his pair of goals with just 3:20 remaining in the first half to give the Redmen a two-goal lead heading into halftime and NSU never looked back in the second half. Brett Kohler (Waterloo, Ill.) helped the Lions (2-7-2, 0-4 SSC) avoid the shutout by scoring his first career goal with just 23 seconds remaining in the contest off an assist from Tony Simmons (Oklahoma City, Okla.). NSU (8-2-3, 3-0-1) doubled up the Lions in shot-attempts, 14-7 and held a 7-4 edge in shots-on-goal. The Redman also had a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks. Lions goalkeeper Travis Haight (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and NSU goalie Rasone Rose each made three stops in the match. Missouri Southern will hit the road for the final time in the regular season by making a journey to the Rocky Mountains for a Friday night match (Oct. 6) at Colorado-Colorado Springs at 7 p.m. (MDT) and a Sunday matinee (Oct. 8) at Colorado State-Pueblo at 12 p.m. (MDT).
