Five Lions earn SSC All-Academic recognition

Richardson, Texas -- Seniors Ryan Morris (Topeka, Kan.), Dushan Gorechan (Wichita, Kan.), Neil Stoessel (Papillion, Neb), junior Brett Kohler (Waterloo, Ill.) and sophomore Ben Pantzlaff have been selected to the Southwest Soccer Conference Academic All-Conference squad, the league office announced today (Nov. 6).

Morris has a 3.856 grade-point-average in biology.  He scored one goal and was a solid defender for a Lions' defense that posted three shutouts on the year. 

Gorechan is a finance/economics major and maintains a 3.556 GPA.  He netted one goal and tied for the team-lead with two assists in 2007. 

Stoessel majors in nursing and has a 3.262 GPA.  He led the Lions in goals (3), shots (29) and shots-on-goal (14) during the 2007 campaign. 

Kohler tallied one goal this past year, while providing a solid defensive effort for a unit that recorded three shutouts.  He is a criminal justice major, maintaining a 3.865 GPA.

Pantzlaff scored one goal in 2007, which proved to be the game-winning tally in a 3-0 Lions' win over Harding on Aug. 26.  He majors in international business, with a 3.857 GPA.

The Lions concluded the 2007 campaign with a 4-10-2 overall record and a 1-6-1 mark in the SSC.
