Lions settle for scoreless tie with Dana College

Joplin, Mo.. -- The Missouri Southern Lions battled their way to a 0-0, double-overtime scoreless tie against the Dana College Vikings Friday night (Sept. 14) at Hal Bodon Field.

The Lions 2-4-1, 0-2 (SSC) had a last-second scoring opportunity, but a shot from Aaron Parker sailed over the net as time expired in the second overtime.

The two squads combined for 22 shot attempts, with the Lions leading the way at 12-10.

The match was competitive and intense throughout, with a combined 46 fouls whistled and seven yellow cards issued.

Jon Hansen (Topeka, Kan.) made three saves for Southern, with Kurtis Kraatz stopping six shots for the Vikings (3-1-1)

Austin Whiles (Overland Park, Kan.), Neil Stoessel (Papillion, Neb.) and Trent Baker (Oklahoma City, Okla.) each led the Lions with two shots.

The Vikings, an NAIA school located in Blair, Nebraska, were led by Corbin Lukasiewicz's three shot-attempts.

Up next for MSSU is a date at Southwest Soccer Conference rival and No. 16-ranked Midwestern State on Sunday (Sept. 16) beginning at 1 p.m. at Wichita Falls, Texas.
