Southern falls 1-0 at Drury in overtime

Springfield, Mo.. -- Marco Cherisma scored a goal with 4:41 left in the first overtime to propel the Drury Panthers to a 1-0 win over the Missouri Southern Lions Sunday afternoon (Oct. 7) in Springfield, Mo.

Cherisma's goal was a 15 yard blast from Steve Wilczewski that snapped the scoreless tie.

The shots were even at three apiece in the first half, but the Panthers (12-3) held a 4-0 edge in shot-attempts in the second half and the overtime period.

Neil Stoessel (Papillion, Neb.), Austin Whiles (Overland Park, Kan.) and Mike Bayless (Lansing, Kan.) each had a shot for the Lions (3-7-2, 0-3-1 SSC). Nick Washam had two shots to lead Drury.

Jon Hansen (Wichita, Kan.) made one save for Southern.

The Lions will not play again until traveling to Canyon, Texas to face West Texas A&M in a Southwest Soccer Conference contest on Friday, Oct. 19. The Buffs slipped by Southern 1-0 back on Sept. 9 in the season's first matchup in Joplin.
