Lions picked to finish fifth in Southwest Soccer Conference

Richardson, Texas. -- The Missouri Southern Lions have been picked to finish fifth in the Southwest Soccer Conference preseason poll, as announced by the league office.

The defending conference co-champs Midwestern State Mustangs and West Texas A&M Buffs are the top two squads, with MSU getting the top spot with nine first-place votes and WTAMU finishing second and receiving the remaining two first-place votes.

Northeastern State came in third, followed by Eastern New Mexico and Missouri Southern.

The Mustangs and Buffs each posted 7-1 conference marks to share the SSC title last year.

The Lions welcome back five starters under sixth-year head coach Kiley Cirillo and will kick off the 2008 campaign in Tahlequah, Okla. on Aug. 29 against Texas A&M International.
