FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Greyhounds strike late to slip by Lions, 1-0 Joplin, Mo. -- Gerardo Monarrez scored off a deflection after Jon Hansen saved a shot by Edgar Bear in the 76th minute to lead the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds to a 1-0 win over the Missouri Southern Lions in a Southwest Soccer Conference matchup Sunday afternoon (Oct. 26) at Hal Bodon Field. The Lions (1-13-1, 1-5-1 SSC) couldn't put the ball in the net despite holding a 6-5 edge in shots-on-goal. The Greyhounds narrowly out-shot the Lions 14-12 overall. Mike Bayless led the Lions with four shots and three on-goal. Emerson Rodrigues had a team-high four shots for the Greyhounds (5-7-2, 3-2-2 SSC). MSSU goalkeeper Jon Hansen stopped four shots, while Peter Horak made six saves for ENMU. The Lions will play their home finale in a make-up game against No. 8-ranked Rockhurst on Tuesday night (Oct. 28) at 7 p.m.
