FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NSU trips up Lions in SSC opener Tahlequah, Okla. -- Anthony Dingledine scored in the 29th minute off a cross from Alex Novoa as the Northeastern State RiverHawks defeated the Missouri Southern Lions 2-0 in the Southwest Soccer Conference opener for both squads Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 10) at Tahlequah, Okla. The RiverHawks (2-2, 1-0 SSC) led 1-0 at the half and quickly took a two-goal lead by converting another cross when Royan Forrester scored two minutes into the second half off an assist from Ryan Evans. The Lions (0-6, 0-1 SSC) were out-shot 20-7 overall and 7-3 on-goal. Austin Whiles led the Lions with two shots and also had one shot-on-goal. Jon Hansen made five saves for the Lions, while NSU goalkeeper Lindsey Brendon stopped three shots. Southern is now scheduled to host a non-conference matchup with Rockhurst on Friday night (Sept. 12) at 7 p.m.
