Turner earns second-straight first team All-MIAA nod

Overland Park, Kan. -- Missouri Southern sophomores Angie Turner and Lacee Craig, as well as senior Racheal Bowen have all been named All-MIAA as voted on by the coaches of the league today. Turner earns her second-straight first team honor, while Lacee Craig, an honorable mention selection last year, was a second-team selection. Bowen earns her second honorable mention selection.

Turner, a Springdale, Ark. native, leads the Lions with a .394 batting average and is currently fourth in the conference in that category. She leads the team with six homers and is second in doubles with seven and RBIs with 19. She has a league-leading 23 walks. Turner is fourth in the MIAA with a .512 on base percentage and has slugged .681 this year, sixth in the league.

Craig has been the Lions' top pitcher the past two seasons. She has helped the Southern pitching staff rank second in the MIAA in ERA, behind only Emporia State. Craig is 11-17 with a 1.90 ERA, good enough for second in the conference. She ranks third in wins, and is tied for first in innings pitched. Her 143 strikeouts is second in the league.

Bowen has started every game she's played in as a Lion. She is batting .243 this year with a team-leading 20 RBIs. Bowen is third on the team in runs scored and is second in hits. She has a team-leading eight doubles and 327 putouts on the season. For her career, Bowen has 1,437 putouts, the most ever in Southern history.

The Lions will be in action today in the first round of the MIAA Softball Tournament at Mid-America West Sports Complex in Shawnee, Kansas. They will take on 10th ranked Emporia State at noon.
