Southern softball named NFCA All-Academic Team

Starkville, Miss. - The Missouri Southern softball team had the 21st best team GPA in Division II this past season and has been recognized as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Academic team for their success in the classroom.

Along with the team award, six Lions were recognized as Scholar Athletes. To be recognized, an athlete must have a cumulative 3.5 GPA. Lindsay Bellm, Tamika Barnes, Danielle Fuller, Angie Turner, Kayleigh Cecil and Lacee Craig all earned the individual honor.

The Lions had the fourth highest GPA amongst MIAA schools, trailing Emporia State, Central Missouri and Missouri Western as the MIAA had four schools in the top 25. Missouri Southern had a team GPA of 3.330 this last season.

"We are very proud of our student-athletes and their accomplishments in the classroom," Potter said. "To be ranked in the top 25 in Division II is a great reflection of the teams hard work."
