Roark named MIAA Softball Hitter of the Week

Kansas City, Mo. - Missouri Southern freshman first baseman Megan Roark has been named the MIAA Softball Hitter of the Week as announced by the league office today.

Roark, a 5'6 native of Seneca, Mo. and Seneca High School, raised her batting average 143 points from .184 to .327 this past weekend with a monster showing at the Missouri Western Tournament in St. Joseph.

She snapped out of an 0-13 slump coming into the tournament to hit .647 on the weekend with five doubles, three home runs and 12 RBIs. She scored seven times. She didn't strike out one time and had a hit and an RBI in each of the five games this past weekend.

Roark is second on the team in average at .327, as well as homers (4) and RBIs (15). She leads the Lions with six doubles on the year and has been flawless in the field at first base.

The Lions will be back in action tomorrow (March 26) as they play host to Washburn University at 3 pm at Gene Wild Field.
