Lions drop non-conference double-header at 19th ranked Central Oklahoma

The Missouri Southern softball team ran into a hot hitting Central Oklahoma squad today and dropped both ends of a double-header, falling 5-1 and 13-1 to the 19th ranked Bronchos.

Southern (5-21) went down 5-0 after four innings in game one, but got one late run in the sixth when Kelli Bax tripled to start the inning and was singled home by Angie Turner.

UCO (27-8) scored two in the third and three in the fourth.

Andrea Childs had two hits for the Lions, while Turner, Bax and Julie Taylor had a hit each.

The Bronchos scored three in the first and five in each of the third and fourth innings of game two to cruise to the win.

The Lions scored a late run in the fifth on an Amanda Godfrey RBI single.

Godfrey had two hits, while Bax, Turner and Childs had a hit each.

The Lions will be back in action Tuesday afternoon when Southern travels to Warrensburg to take on Central Missouri. The two teams will face off in a double-header beginning at 4 pm.
