FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Southern (6-30, 3-13 MIAA) could manage just three hits off of Truman's (20-19, 8-10 MIAA) game one starter Katie Jeannin. Angie Turner, Julie Taylor and Amanda Godfrey all had a hit for the Lions. Tamika Barnes started and went the distance, allowing just four hits and two earned runs, striking out two, but got the hard luck loss. Truman's Christen Belcher had two hits and two stolen bases in the game to bring her to 151 in her career, just one shy of tying the MIAA stolen base record. Game two wasn't any kinder to the Lions as the Bulldog's Katie Noskie threw a complete-game one hitter and shut out Southern. Taylor got the lone hit for the Lions as Kelli Bax pitched all six, striking out three and allowing just two earned runs. Belcher again had two hits for the Bulldogs and picked up another stolen base to give her 152 on her career, tying the MIAA record. The Lions will finish up the regular season with a double-header at Southwest Baptist on Wednesday, April 23 at 4 pm. |
