Lions fall twice at Central Oklahoma

The Missouri Southern softball team lost both ends of a double-header today at Central Oklahoma falling 7-3 in the first game and 4-0 in the nightcap.

Southern (7-20) fell behind early to the Bronchos (16-8) as Central Oklahoma scored five runs over the first two innings, but the Lions scored a run in the third to cut the lead to three. With two outs, Whitney Clute reached on an error and moved to third on another error. She would score on an RBI single from Trish Washburn.

The Lions scored two more runs in the seventh. Washburn added another RBI, and Brooke Hurley drove in a run of her own. Tara Kuykendall started and Kelsey Williams pitched a scoreless inning and two thirds. Andrea Childs and Hurley had two hits each in the game.

In game two, the Lions got a hit each from Clute, Megan Roark and Annie Sewell. Clute started and allowed just four runs, two each in the first and third.

Southern will have this weekend off and will be back in action on Monday, March 23 when they play host to Missouri-St. Louis in a double-header at 4 pm
