Missouri Southern softball coach Aron Potter to be inducted into Culver Stockton College Athletic Hall of Fame

Joplin, Mo. -- Missouri Southern softball coach Aron Potter will be inducted into the Culver Stockton College Athletic Hall of Fame this weekend in ceremonies held on the campus in Canton, Mo.

Potter is one of three individuals going into this year's class and joins former basketball player Kelly Winters Campbell and soccer player Matt Hacker.

Potter, a 1998 CSC graduate and native of Vandalia, Mo., was a four-year letterwinner in softball. She was a three-time All-Heart of America Athletic Conference selection, including Player of the Year in 1996 and a first team pick in 1997. In addition, she was an All-Midwest Region first team selection in 1996 and 1997.

Potter still holds the career records for doubles (45) and RBI s (124), and is listed in the top ten in ten other offensive categories including batting average (4th), hits (2nd), runs scored (5th), triples (3rd) and home runs (4th). Also, walks (6th), total bases (2nd), slugging percentage (3rd) stolen bases (9th) and sacrifices (3rd). Defensively, Potter ranks in the top ten in assists (3rd   314) and chances (5th   784).

Potter played on one HAAC championship team, two HAAC Tournament championship teams and two Midwest Region qualifiers.

"I think it's a very humbling and great honor to have bestowed on me by such a great institution," she said "I knew I wanted to go to Culver Stockton since age 12 when I first stepped foot on the campus and fell in love with the school. To be inducted into their Hall of Fame is a testament to all of the great players and coaches that I had the privilege of playing with that helped make this day happen."

Potter will be honored at the eighth annual Hall of Fame Banquet from 6-8 p.m. tonight in Meaders Lounge inside the Gladys Crown Student Center on the Culver-Stockton College campus. She will also be recognized before the Homecoming football game with Graceland University on Saturday, Oct. 6.
