Joplin, Mo. -- The
National Fastpitch Coaches Association has named Missouri
Southern sophomore catcher Angie Turner second team All-North
Central Region as voted on by the of the region. Turner, a
Springdale, Ark. native, was a first-team All-MIAA selection this
year for the second-straight season. She led the Lions with a .378 batting average
and is currently seventh in the conference in that category. She
led the team with six homers and was second in doubles with seven
and RBIs with 19. She leads the league in walks per game and is
fourth in the MIAA with a .496 on base percentage She slugged
.653 this year, sixth in the league.
A second-team selection for the
second-straight season, Turner is one of ten players from the MIAA
to be named to the first or second teams. Emporia State pitcher
Courtney Reed joined teammate Megan Davison, as well as Central
Missouri's Lauren Young and Missouri Western's Lindsey Predovich on
the first team.
Turner, Northwest Missouri's Sarah Johnson and Megan Simpson,
Emporia State's Samantha Sheeley and Morgan Viola, as well as Truman
State's Christen Belcher were named to the second team.
