Lions volleyball signs Springfield product

Joplin, Mo.  -- Missouri Southern volleyball coach Chris Willis has announced the signing of Cassie Prewitt to a national letter of intent to attend Missouri Southern State University and play volleyball in the fall of 2007.

Prewitt is a 5'10 outside hitter from Ozark High School where she played for coach Becky Justis and lettered all four years for the Tigers. Also a letter winner in basketball and track, Prewitt was part of back - to - back state championships in basketball in 2004 and 2005.

An all-conference, all-district, all-county, and all-region selection in volleyball, she was also all-conference in track and a two-time state qualifier. She also holds the school record for aces and kills in a career. Prewitt's mother, Brenda, played basketball at the College of the Ozarks.

"I'm excited to have Cassie as a part of our program," Willis said. "She will add to our depth at outside hitter. She brings in a tremendous amount of ball control and athleticism to the court. I think she is the icing on the cake four our 2007 recruiting class."

Prewitt joins Jeanna Feldmann, Brittany Vavao-Huggins, and Amelia Judge as part of Southern's '07 class. The trio signed in the early signing period.
