FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Joplin, MO -- The Missouri Southern volleyball team took 11th ranked Central Missouri to extra points in game one only to fall 32-30 and the Jennies didn't let up defeating the 25th ranked Lions three games to none today at Young Gym. Southern (19-4, 5-2 MIAA) started the match on a roll, hitting nearly .700 through the 22nd point, but a few hitting errors caught up with the Lions and they fell in extra points, 32-30. Central won game two 30-24 and came from behind in game three to defeat Southern 30-28. Central (18-3, 6-1 MIAA) was led by Andrea Robertson who had 20 kills and hit .486 with five blocks. Jillian Ohrman had 16 kills and three blocks, while AShley Jandrey and Caitlin Pankratz had 28 and 22 kills, respectively. Katie Tarka had 21 digs. The Lions were led by Ashley Mehrer (Kansas City, MO/Winnetonka HS) with 14 kills and five blocks. Mehrer hit .458 in the match. Tessa Woods (Joplin, MO/Joplin HS) and Ashley Wright (Everton, MO/Miller HS) both had nine kills and three blocks. Megan Norman (Stockton, MO/Stockton HS) had 22 digs and Sarah Joles (Blue Springs, MO/Blue Springs South HS) had 28 assists. Southern will be back in action on Friday, October 6 when the Lions travel to 4th ranked Truman State.
