Box Score Southern (9-5, 0-1 MIAA) had a rough opening game to the match, hitting just .060 in game one against the Lady Hornets. The Lions improved, hitting the 18 kill mark in both games two and three, but couldn't overcome the solid offensive threat from Emporia (10-4, 1-1 MIAA) as the Lady Hornets hit .305 as a team in the match. Emporia hit .367 in the deciding game of the match. Sarah Hoffmeister knocked down her tenth double-double of the season with 13 kills and 10 digs. Ashley Wright hit .333 with ten kills, while Sarah Joles added 31 assists and nine digs. Kari Hammerbacher had a match-high 15 digs. Southern will come home and continue MIAA play this Friday, September 14 as the Lions play host to 12th ranked Pittsburg State at 7 pm in Young Gym. |
