Lions
fall 3-0 at seventh ranked Washburn

The seventh ranked Washburn Lady Blues hit .329 as a team and defeated the visiting Missouri Southern volleyball team tonight in Topeka. Individual game scores were 30-19, 30-19 and 30-25.

Southern (10-8, 1-4 MIAA) couldn't get its offense rolling as the Lions hit just .091 as a team in game one. The Lions hit .205 in game two and .196 in game three.

Washburn (18-1, 3-0) steamrolled through game one, hitting .372. The Lady Blues hit .364 in game two en route to the three game win.

Ashlee Russell had nine kills, while Sarah Hoffmeister had 8 kills and 19 digs. Kari Hammerbacher had 20 digs and Erin Mitchem added 32 assists.

Southern will be back in action this Wednesday, September 26 when they play host to Missouri Western at 7 pm in Young Gym.
