Lions pick up 3-1 win against Eastern New Mexico

San Antonio, Texas. -- The Missouri Southern volleyball squad picked up its first victory of the season, defeating Eastern New Mexico three sets to one tonight in the final match of the St. Mary's Invite. Individual set scores were 27-25, 22-25, 30-28, and 25-18.

Southern (1-3) took the first set, but Eastern New Mexico (0-3) rebounded to take the second set. The Lions, however came back and won the third set in extra points and the fourth set 25-18 to take the match.

Sarah Joles had 17 assists and 12 digs for a double-double, while Ashley Hill picked up a double-double of her own with 13 kills and 16 digs. She was named to the All-Tournament team for her efforts. Ashlee Russell had 12 digs, while Jeanna Feldman had 10 kills and 10 digs. Kari Hammerbacher had 15 digs of her own.

The Lions will be back in action next Friday and Saturday when the host their own Invitational.
