Lions fall in four to 17th ranked Central Missouri

--  The Missouri Southern volleyball went up against a hot-hitting squad from Central Missouri tonight, but fell in four to the 17th ranked Jennies. Individual set scores were 25-14, 25-19, 22-25 and 25-13.

Southern (4-7, 0-2 MIAA) hit just .091 in the first set, while UCM (12-3, 3-0 MIAA) pounded out a .484 hitting percentage for the first set win.

Set two was much of the same, but the Lions came alive in the third set, hitting .343 and limiting the Jennies to just a .111 attack average. There were four tied scores and two lead changes in the set, but the Lions took the lead for good at 10-9 off a kill from Ashley Hill.

Southern tied the score at two in the fourth set, but the Jennies went on a 22-11 run to end the match.

Ashlee Russell led the Lions with 13 kills and a .333 attack average. Sara Joles had 22 assists, while Kari Hammerbacher had 11 digs.

The Lions will be back in action on September 23 when they travel to Northwest Missouri for a 7 pm start.
