Lions swept in final day of Pitt State Tournament

--  The Missouri Southern Volleyball team was shutout in both matches today, falling to third ranked West Texas A&M and Angelo State, 3-0 in the final day of the Pittsburg State Classic.

The Lions (6-11) hit just .031 as a team against West Texas (17-3) and .069 against Angelo State (12-10). Southern out blocked Angelo State, 6-5.

Individual game scores against WTAMU were 25-12, 25-13, and 25-13, while Angelo State defeated the Lions 25-23, 25-22 and 25-21.

The Lions were led by Amelia Judge against West Texas as the sophomore picked up five kills and three digs. Sarah Joles had 16 assists. Brittany Vavao-Huggins led the offensive attack against Angelo State, picking up seven kills and hitting .357. Jeanna Feldman had six kills and nine digs, while Kari Hammerbacher had 11 digs.

The Lions will be back in action this week when they play host to Washburn on Wednesday, October 8 at 7 pm.
