Lions fall in straight sets at 11th ranked Emporia State

-- The Missouri Southern volleyball team fell in straight sets tonight at 11th ranked Emporia State. Individual set scores were 25-9, 25-20 and 25-11.

Southern (6-14, 1-7 MIAA) struggled offensively, hitting just .059 for the match.

Emporia (22-1, 8-0 MIAA) hit .565 in game one and .366 as a team overall to stay undefeated in MIAA play.

Ashlee Russell led the Lions with eight kills. Sarah Joles had 16 assists, while Kari Hammerbacher had a team-high seven digs.

The Lions will be back in action this Wednesday (Oct. 15) night when they play host to Pittsburg State at 7 pm in Young Gym.
