Lions fall at 11th ranked Truman State, 3-0

-- The Missouri Southern volleyball team ran into a hot hitting Truman State team tonight and fell to the 11th ranked Bulldogs, three sets to none. Individual set scores were 25-22, 25-18 and 25-16.

Southern (7-19, 2-12 MIAA) kept it close in the first set and led on three different occasions, the last at 15-13 on a kill by Kara Robeson. The Bulldogs (24-7, 11-4 MIAA), however, scored the next three points to take a 16-15 lead, but the Lions would tie it again at 16. From that point on, Truman went on a 9-6 run to end the set.

The Bulldogs poured it on in the second and third set, hitting .306 and .366, respectively.

Brittany Vavao-Huggins and Jeanna Feldman led the Lions with seven kills apiece. Elin Skei and Sarah Joles had 13 assists each and Kari Hammerbacher had a team-high 17 digs.

The Lions will be back in action tomorrow (Nov. 1) when they travel to Missouri Western for a 2 pm match with the Griffons.
