Southern falls in straight sets at 7th ranked Washburn

-- The Missouri Southern volleyball team struggled offensively and lost in straight sets tonight at seventh ranked Washburn. Individual set scores were 25-11, 25-21 and 25-11.

Southern (8-20, 3-13 MIAA) had negative hitting percentages in the first and third set.

Washburn (28-3, 13-3 MIAA) on the other hand hit .367 and .474, respectively in those sets.

The first and third sets were not close as there were only four ties and three lead changes in both sets. However, the second set is where the Lions played their best forcing five tied scores and four lead changes.

Ashley Hill, Kara Robeson and Maria Weller all had four kills each, as Elin Skei and Sarah Joles had 12 and 10 assists, respectively. Hill added 11 digs, while Kari Hammerbacher had nine digs of her own.

The Lions come back home this Friday night when they play host to Fort Hays at 7 pm in Young Gym.
