Southern Volleyball Earns Volleyball Coaches Team Academic Honor

Lexington, Ky. -- The Missouri Southern volleyball team has been named one of just 39 NCAA Division II schools to win the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award.

To be eligible for the honor, a team must maintain a cumulative 3.30 GPA. In total, a record 353 schools in NCAA Division's I, II and III, as well as the NAIA and high schools earned the honor, up from the previous high of 308 set last year.

Southern was one of three MIAA schools on the list, joining Central Missouri and Nebraska-Omaha. Nine Lions had GPA's of over 3.0 last year, including seven with a 3.397 or higher.
