Lions finish up UCO tournament with a split

Edmond, Okla. -- The Missouri Southern volleyball team defeated St. Edward's three games to one, but fell to Southeastern Oklahoma three games to one in the final day of the Central Oklahoma Invite.

Southern (5-4) hit extremely well as a team with a hitting percentage of .306 against St. Edwards, led by Jeanna Feldmann's 15 kills and .423 attack average. Renee Rheinecker had 16 kills and hit .371, while Elin Skei dished out 47 assists. Kari Hammerbacher had a match high 17 digs.

In the Lions second match, Ashlee Russell hit .419 with 15 kills, while Skei had 38 assists and Hammerbacher added 18 digs. Southern, however, the Lions fell down 2-0 and eventually lost three sets to one.

After hitting .300 the last two matches, the Lions hit only .182 as a team against SEOSU.

Southern will be back in action on September 16 when they play host to Nebraska-Omaha at 5 pm.
