FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern volleyball team ran into a hot-hitting Central Missouri squad tonight as the fourth ranked Jennies hit .454 as a team and defeated the Lions, three sets to none. Individual set scores were 19-25, 18-25, and 13-25. Southern (11-15, 4-8 MIAA) hit .303 in the first set, but the Jennies (24-5, 12-11) led from start to finish and defeated the Lions, despite Southern scoring four of the set's final six points. The Lions led twice in the second set at 12-11 and 13-12, but Central went on a 12-5 run to close out the set. The Jennies hit .429 in the third set and led from start to finish, closing out the match on another 12-5 run. Jeanna Feldmann had 10 kills and three digs for the Lions tonight, while Renee Rheinecker had nine kills and a block. Elin Skei dished out 31 assists, while Ali Boehler had a team-high six digs. The Lions will be off this weekend, but will be back in Young Gym a week from tonight on October 30, playing host to 19th ranked Truman State at 7 pm. |
