Lions drop conference opener

JOPLIN (March 7) -- Missouri Southern's women's tennis team began Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play on Sunday with a 9-0 loss to Emporia State at Millennium Tennis Club.

"We really need to work on our consistency," said assistant coach Sheryl Posch. "There were some close matches, but we just couldn't pull them out."

The Lions return to the courts on Saturday when they step out of conference to take on Drury. Southern resumes conference play on March 19 and 20 at Northwest Missouri State and Missouri Western.
