FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Southern (4-5, 3-0 MIAA) started play Thursday at Rockhurst and got a win in its No. 1 singles match when Michelle Hall defeated Kandice Belanger, 6-2, 6-2. Carissa Knoderer defeated Kristin Davis in her No. 5 singles match. Kristen Meschede and Hall won their doubles match against Caitlin Buckley and Hannah Lazenby, but the Lions dropped the final two doubles matches. Rockhurst moved to 8-1 on the season. Southern rebounded to win four of its final five matches at Missouri Western today, defeating the Griffons, 5-4. Hall won her singles match, 6-0, 6-1 to start things off, but the Lions dropped the next three matches, putting Southern in an early hole, 3-1. The Lions responded as Ashton Lawrence and Lauren Skimbo both won their singles matches to tie the dual at three. Hall and Meschede, as well as Knoderer and Skimbo both won in doubles, giving the Lions the 5-4 win. Southern will be back in action tomorrow when the Lions travel to Maryville to take on Northwest Missouri and Johnson County CC.
