Lions sweep Missouri-St. Louis, 9-0

The Missouri Southern women's tennis team rebounded to move to 2-2 on the season with a sweep of Missouri-St. Louis this afternoon, 9-0.

The Lions (2-2) started doubles competition with Michelle Hall and Kati Anderson defeating Stephanie Thompson and Adriana Garcia, 8-4. Brittany Kockler and Ashton Lawrence won their doubles match 8-3, while Alex Lewis and Brianna Tunnel, getting their first action of the season, won 8-3 over Molly Striler and Annie Gonzalez.

UMSL moved to 3-2 on the season with the loss.

Hall won her singles match 6-4 and 6-4, while Anderson was victorious 6-1 and 6-2 to put the Lions up 5-0. Lawrence won 6-1, 6-1, while Kockler defeated Molly Striler 6-3, and 6-2.

Lauren Skimbo won 6-1, 6-3, while Janelle Quesenberry won 6-1 and 6-2.

The Lions will now travel south to begin their spring break trip next week, playing four games in four days in Vero Beach, Fla.
