Lions defeat Fort Hays for first conference win

Wichita, Kan.  - The Missouri Southern tennis team won three singles and two doubles matches today, defeating Fort Hays State in MIAA play.

Southern (6-3, 1-0 MIAA) opened up doubles play with Michelle Hall and Ashton Lawrence defeating Brette Baldwin and Sam Islas 8-5. Brittany Kockler and Kati Andersen defeated Rebeka Lynn and Brienna Holtzmeister, 8-2. Lauren Skimbo and Janelle Quesenberry narrowly lost their doubles match as the two lost 9-8 in a tie breaker.

Leading 2-1, the Lions got wins at No. 1 and 2 singles from Hall and Andersen and Quesenberry won her singles match to secure the dual win for the Lions.

Southern will be back in action on March 28, facing off with Arkansas-Fort Smith in Springfield.
