Lions fall, 7-2 at 26th ranked Emporia State

Emporia, Kan - The Missouri Southern tennis team fell to .500 in conference play tonight, falling 7-2 at 26th ranked Emporia State. Southern moves to 6-5 on the season and 1-1 in the MIAA, while the Hornets improve to 9-1 and 2-1 in league play.

The Lions started the match with a loss at No. 1 doubles, but evened the dual up with a win at No. 2 as Brittany Kockler and Kati Andersen defeated Molly Bowman and Kirsten Ford of ESU, 9-8.

Michelle Hall won her singles match handily 6-2 and 6-2 over Marcella Bayon, but the Lions would lose No. 2 through 6 singles. Janelle Quesenberry made it interesting in the No. 6 match as the freshman won game two 6-1 and took game three to a tiebreaker, eventually losing 11-9.

The Lions will be back in action tomorrow afternoon when Southern travels to Washburn to take on the Lady Blues at 2 pm.
