Lions tennis split
in day one at MIAA Tournament
Kansas City, Mo. -
The Missouri Southern tennis team defeated Missouri Western in the
opening round of the 2009 MIAA Tennis Championships, but fell to
Washburn in the next round in the opening day at Plaza Tennis Center in
Kansas City.
The consolation round of the tournament
was washed out because of weather for the second-straight year so the
Lions end their season on day one.
Southern (3-14) took all three of the
doubles matches against the Griffons, while Kati Andersen, Lauren Skimbo,
and Becca Sterling took home their singles match to sweep Western.
In the Lions second match of the day,
Washburn swept doubles action and took home wins at No. 2 and 4 singles
to win the match 5-0.
